B.A.W.N (AT THE MOVIES) Harriet Tubman’s incredible life story for many in Black America should have already been told and for the most part it’s appeal is definitely cinematic. Directed by Kasi Lemmons (“Eve’s Bayou”) This big screen adaptation of the renowned icon, stands amongst the most celebrated freedom fighters of American history. The starring role of Harriet by Cynthia Erivo is well above average and one that we no doubt will receive acclaim. As for the Historical footnote: Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. The Movie Harriet is worth your time and effort. For their effort 4 STARS! (BAWN)
